Drivers and Fairway Woods
This Wilson Ultra Complete Package Set is geared towards beginners because it doesn’t just come with the essential clubs but they are quite high-quality as well. The set includes a driver, 3 fairway woods, 4 hybrids, irons 5-PW, and a putter.
This set comes with drivers and fairway woods that are tailored from graphite. This gives the drivers and woods a rather solid feel and it gives us the impression that they are high-quality. I’ve always preferred graphite because they are basically lighter than steel shafts which can help increase swing speed and distance. If you play with a slow swing tempo, graphite clubs are the ideal option.
The 460cc Titanium driver features the lowest loft, so this means that the golf ball will travel in less of an arch. Between 200 to 230 yards, the driver moves the ball in almost a straight line, granted that you do the right swing. The drive also utilizes a low center of gravity and a rather large sweet spot for maximizing forgiveness and distance with each tee.
The 3-fairway wood features a sizable rounded head with a flat bottom. The length of the shot travels at a shorter distance than the driver.
Both the driver and woods sport a natural incline which gives them a better feel and increased accuracy and high launch. The incline is also beneficial for new players since it makes them easier to swing.
Overall, when it comes to drivers and woods, you can’t ask for more in a starting golf set. If there’s one thing to complain, it’s that the clubs can be a little too short for taller players.
All the included clubs come with the standard grips with visible grips so even new players will know where to place their fingers during play. Nothing much to write home about the grips but they are quite comfortable even after long periods of play.
All of the clubs’ shaft is made from tempered iron steel. While I would prefer my clubs to have graphite shafts, the iron shafts provide the much-needed longevity and long-lasting performance. We’ve been testing the clubs for a few weeks now and it’s still going strong than ever. There’s just no sign that it will break anytime soon.
The iron shafts will also send up more vibrations to the hands of the player. Most skilled golfers prefer this kind of feedback as the vibrations allow them to get the feel of the swing and the impact. Players with a high-speed swing will find a lot to like about these iron shafts because it affords them more control. Also, steel shafts are far more affordable than graphite which makes this set an affordable entry-level set.
The set also comes with a putter that features a Heal Toe Weighted Alignment. This is a particularly good feature for beginners since it allows more control of the ball.
The set comes with a carrying bag. It’s a stylish carrying bag that does a good job of protecting the clubs.
The bag has plenty of zipped storage compartments where you can store your balls and tees. It also has storage room for your accessories and apparel like gloves, towels, ball markers, and many others. There’s also enough room added essentials like sunscreens, rain gear, first-aid kit, and a water bottle to help you stay hydrated.
The bag includes a comfortable carrying strap and a kickstand which greatly helps when transporting the bag. The bag isn’t all that fancy but for a starting set, it’s really not too bad.
As of this writing, the Wilson Golf Men’s 2017 Ultra Complete Package Set is available for $165 on Amazon.
This is definitely a great price considering that you are getting most of the essential clubs and then some. In comparison, the Wilson 2017 Men’s Profile XD Golf Complete Set is available for around $280 and the PreciseGolf Co. Complete Golf Club Package Set can be bought for $329.
So for a set aimed at beginners, in our opinion, the Ultra Complete Package Set is perfectly priced. Sure, it could use a few more clubs but that would likely drive up the price. Buying this golf club set would make a lot of sense for beginners or casual players.
Below, we summarize the ups and downs of this Wilson golf set.

User Reviews and Feedback
So how did the Wilson Golf Men’s 2017 Ultra Complete Package Set fair with other users?
As of this writing, the set has a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 on Amazon, and that’s according to 46 customer reviews. That goes without saying that this a highly-rated golf set, at least according to Amazon.
Many of the positive reviews have mentioned that this is a very good set for beginners. Many people have bought this package as their first golf set. Many of the positive feedback has also praised the quality of the clubs. Many people are quite surprised at how their game has improved after buying this set. As expected, most of the positive reviews mentioned the attractive price of the set.
Below are some examples of the positive reviews from Amazon:
Perfect set for a beginner to start developing your skills. I’ve been hitting these clubs at the driving range for a couple of months now and they are quite good for the price. The driver and putter are not the best quality but for the price can’t complain. – Raksha Raghunath
Not a bad set of beginners clubs. I bought these as a second set. The driver is a little short for me. My Taylor is an inch longer. I’m not that great of golfer to begin with but I can hit it farther and straighter with my old driver. But the rest of the clubs are fine. I’ll just practice a bit more with the driver and see what happens. All in all worth the money. – John H. McCorts
Great Clubs! I’m a beginner golfer and these clubs are amazing, used them for many trips to the driving range and one tournament and they work like a charm! Great value for the money, would 100% recommend them. – Jessica Cabrera
On the other hand, there are only four negative feedback. One review mentioned that the gloves are quite too short for a tall person. There’s also this one review complaining that the irons have snapped after just an hour of use.
Overall, there are not that many negative reviews to look at and many of the issues can be attributed to lemon units.
